Abdul Malik's son Abdul Moeed and Javed Siddiqui, co-accused in the Banbhoolpura riots, have sought default bail in the Uttarakhand High Court.
The court directed the state to present objections to Moeed's bail within three weeks and Siddiqui's within two weeks. Both allege that the police failed to file a charge-sheet within the stipulated 90-day period.
The riots, which erupted in Banbhoolpura in February after the demolition of a madrasa, caused six deaths and over 100 injuries. The court has fixed October 26 for Moeed's hearing and October 13 for Siddiqui's.
