Malayalam film actor Sidhique has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Kerala High Court's decision to deny him anticipatory bail in a rape case.
According to the Supreme Court website, the actor has sought relief through his counsel, Ranjeeta Rohatgi. The high court had rejected his plea, citing the seriousness of the accusations and the necessity of a custodial interrogation for proper investigation.
Sidhique, who faces charges under sections 376 and 506 of the IPC, claims the accusations are part of a prolonged campaign of harassment and false allegations by the complainant. His bail plea was opposed on grounds that his interrogation was essential for the case, given his potential to intimidate witnesses and tamper with evidence.
