The Delhi High Court has granted television actress Hina Khan a final opportunity to advance her submissions in a defamation suit she filed against Praxis Media. The consultancy firm had accused her of stealing jewellery, a claim Khan refutes.
During the hearing, Khan's lawyer informed the court that the 'Bigg Boss 11' star is currently battling cancer and that no further instructions had been received. In light of this, Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora adjourned the matter to January 2, 2025, warning that the suit would be dismissed if not pursued by then.
The case dates back to 2018 when Khan alleged that Praxis Media defamed her by leaking an unsigned legal notice before the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards ceremony. The high court had earlier restrained the firm from publishing or broadcasting the defamatory content. The suit is now at the stage of completing pleadings and admissions.
