The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Monday demanded the transfer of an Allahabad High Court judge who initiated criminal contempt proceedings against senior advocate Satish Chandra Mishra. The HCBA passed a resolution, asserting that the judge, Justice Sangeeta Chandra, should be relocated to another state.

The controversy arose when the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court accused Mishra of actions that could "scandalize and lower the dignity of the court". In a showing of solidarity, the HCBA announced its support for Mishra and called for Justice Chandra's reassignment.

The UP Bar Council has also backed Mishra, sending a formal request to the Chief Justice of India. The Council reiterated that Justice Chandra should not be involved in any judicial work until she is transferred.
