Authorities in Madhya Pradesh have booked Manoj Shrivas, a resident of Bhind district, after a counterfeit government letter naming him as a cabinet minister in a fictitious department was widely circulated on social media, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident came to light following a report submitted by the district collector. The fake letter, which was riddled with errors, named Shrivas a cabinet minister in the non-existent Madhya Pradesh Rajya Rashtriya Pichhada Varg Evam Divyangjan Vitta Evam Vikas Nigam, according to Superintendent of Police Asit Yadav.
After the letter started gaining traction online, Bhind district BJP Backward Class Morcha president Dharmendra Gurjar called for an official investigation. Police confirmed that no such department or corporation existed, and Shrivas has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Additionally, a hoarding congratulating Shrivas and featuring prominent political figures also appeared in Gohad town.
