The Haryana government has granted a 20-day parole to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, imposing strict conditions on his activities. Singh will not be permitted to participate in any election-related activities, make speeches, or remain in the state during this period.

Currently incarcerated in Rohtak's Sunaria jail, Singh is serving a 20-year sentence for raping two of his disciples in 2017 and was also convicted for a journalist's murder in 2019. The parole has been granted ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly polls, following Singh's request citing his father's death anniversary.

The Dera chief will stay at the sect's ashram in Uttar Pradesh's Barnawa (Baghpat) while on parole. The parole conditions have been ethically checked by the Haryana Chief Electoral Officer to ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct during the election period.
