Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati urgently called for a ceasefire to halt hostilities between Israel and the armed group Hezbollah, describing the need as immediate given that around 1.2 million people in Lebanon have been displaced by Israeli attacks.

“Stop fighting. We don't need more blood. We don't need more destruction,” Mikati stressed during an online briefing organized by the American Task Force on Lebanon, a U.S.-based non-profit. Mikati emphasized that a diplomatic resolution to the escalating conflict would be a “win-win” for both Israel and Lebanon, assuring that all parties would respect such an agreement.

The caretaker premier also revealed plans to deploy 10,000 Lebanese army troops to the south in the event of an agreed ceasefire.
