Malaysia and Pakistan Forge Stronger Defence Ties

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed interest in bolstering defence cooperation with Pakistan during his visit. He met with Pakistan's Army Chief General Asim Munir to discuss strategic interests and regional security. Ibrahim praised Pakistan's military efforts and extended an invitation to General Munir to visit Malaysia.

In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has shown keen interest in deepening defence cooperation with Pakistan. This development was confirmed on Friday by an official statement from the Pakistani army.

During his discussions with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, the Malaysian leader focused on enhancing collaborative efforts in regional security and defence. He lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their professionalism and contributions to regional peace, emphasizing the importance of nurturing military relations between the nations.

As Ibrahim concluded his three-day visit aimed at promoting political and economic connections, he extended an invitation to General Munir to visit Malaysia. The prime minister's visit included meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, who honored him with the Nishan-e-Pakistan award during a special ceremony.
