The Delhi High Court has reprimanded Delhi University officials, finding them in 'wilful disobedience' for not adhering to the order concerning admissions of minority students at St Stephen's College.
In a hearing, Justice Dharmesh Sharma expressed concern over DU officials 'playing with the lives of students' to settle personal scores with the college management. The court has demanded a virtual appearance from DU's registrar and dean of admissions on October 15 to justify their actions.
St Stephen's College filed a contempt plea against DU, pointing out insufficient seat allocation for minority students in postgraduate courses, contrary to an earlier court directive. The court stressed the critical impact this delay could have on students' academic futures.
