In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police have arrested three individuals involved in a large-scale heroin smuggling operation.
The operation led to the recovery of five kilograms of heroin and Rs 3.95 lakh in cash. According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the suspects—identified as Gurpreet Singh, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, and Jota Singh—are believed to have direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers who are using drones to ferry heroin across the border.
Technical leads have been developed, and an FIR registered as investigations continue to expose further links. Commissioner of Police Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, revealed that crucial intelligence led to the discovery of the heroin stash at a home used as a distribution hub in New Ajnala Colony. Swift action by police teams led to the arrests, as authorities continue to trace additional connections in this cross-border drug-smuggling case.
