The Waqf Board has authorized the demolition of three unauthorised storeys of the Sanjauli mosque, a structure at the heart of ongoing protests. According to Muhammad Latif, president of the mosque's managing committee, preparations for the demolition will commence shortly.
The Municipal Commissioner Court's order on October 5 mandated that the Waqf Board and the president of the Sanjauli Mosque Committee dismantle these disputed storeys. Latif confirmed that communications to proceed have been received, aligning with local regulations to remove the unauthorised sections within two months at their expense.
The initiative has been praised by Himachal Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, who sees it as a step toward preserving social cohesion. Despite potential legal challenges from the All Himachal Muslims Organisation, mosque officials express commitment to fostering peace and unity in the region.
