Jagdambika Pal, chief of a Parliamentary panel, defended his actions amid allegations of leaking details of a heated incident involving Trinamool Congress member Kalyan Banerjee smashing a glass bottle. The incident occurred during a committee meeting on the Waqf bill, leading to Banerjee’s suspension.

The parliamentary panel chief, Jagdambika Pal, dismissed opposition accusations on Wednesday that he breached protocol by publicizing an incident at a committee meeting.

The incident involved Trinamool Congress's Kalyan Banerjee, who allegedly smashed a glass bottle and hurled it in the direction of the chair after a disagreement with BJP member Abhijit Gangopadhyay.

Pal maintained that he followed parliamentary procedures, having only commented on the altercation and Banerjee's subsequent suspension from the committee for one day.
