The inaugural Lokpal Day is set to be celebrated on January 16, 2025, marking a significant milestone in India's legal framework. Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, will grace the occasion as the chief guest, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
In a unanimous decision by the Lokpal of India on March 14, 2024, it was resolved that January 16 would be the designated Lokpal Day annually. Chief Justice Khanna will address the gathering, focusing on the ombudsman's role and its future trajectory.
The event, held at the Zorawar auditorium in the Manekshaw Centre, will feature the felicitation of prominent figures such as Attorney General R. Venkatramani, former Supreme Court judge Justice N. Santosh Hegde, and activist Padma Bhushan Anna Hazare. Proceedings are slated to commence at 6 pm, attended by distinguished members of the judiciary and government.
