The Tribal Advisory Council, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has officially declined a previous proposal to permit the sale and mortgage of tribal lands in scheduled areas to non-tribals.
Instead, the council aims to find alternative loan arrangements to support essential needs like marriage, higher education, and business ventures for the tribal populace.
Additionally, the council approved a bid to add the Mundari language to the Constitution's eighth schedule and discussed future deliberations on the Odisha PESA rules. A state-level workshop is planned for further feedback.
