Jammu Cracks Down on Illegal Mining with Major Vehicle Seizure and Fines

The Jammu police have seized 933 vehicles and imposed fines amounting to Rs 1.31 crore in a determined effort to crack down on illegal mining activities in the region over the past year.
Officials have intensified campaigns to prevent the exploitation of public resources for personal gain. In 2024, special operations were conducted in the Jammu district, resulting in the seizure of numerous vehicles. Although 831 of these vehicles were later released following formalities, four FIRs were registered against repeat offenders.
Senior officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, have affirmed the police's commitment to eradicating illegal mining and protecting public property. Steps have been initiated to cancel the registrations of vehicles repeatedly involved in such illegal activities.
