Controversy Brews Over Ghee Audit at Palani Temple: BJP Demands Withdrawal of Case

The Tamil Nadu BJP urged the DMK government to withdraw a police case against its member who called for a quality audit of ghee at Palani temple. The Tamil Nadu BJP has called on the state's DMK regime to rescind a police case lodged against a senior party figure, Selvakumar, who has been advocating for a quality audit of ghee provided to the Palani temple amid fallout from the Tirupati laddu controversy.

Narayanan Thirupathy, a BJP leader, highlighted the arrest of Rajasekaran from AR Dairy in connection with the laddu adulteration case being investigated by a Special Investigation Team. Selvakumar had earlier linked Rajasekaran's firm, implicated in the controversy, with ghee supplies to the Palani temple, pushing for a quality check there.

Stories of Rajasekaran's ousting from the temple's board by the DMK government and his subsequent arrest have intensified BJP's call for dropping charges against Selvakumar. The state government maintains that Aavin, a state-run enterprise, supplies the ghee, warning against spreading false claims. The BJP insists on the withdrawal of the case, labeling the actions against Selvakumar as fascist and demanding respect for free speech.
