Farmhouse Raid: 64 Arrested in Large-Scale Cockfight Bust

A police raid at a farmhouse in Tholkatta led to the arrest of 64 individuals involved in an organized cockfight. Authorities confiscated cockfight knives, betting paraphernalia, vehicles, smartphones, and a significant amount of cash. A legal case has been initiated under relevant gaming and animal cruelty laws, with investigations ongoing.

In a significant crackdown, police raided a farmhouse in Tholkatta on Tuesday night, leading to the arrest of 64 individuals allegedly involved in a large-scale cockfight operation, authorities said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, police teams found that the farmhouse was hosting an organized cockfight. Among the seized items were 46 cockfight knives, betting materials, 55 cars, 64 smartphones, 84 cocks, and cash amounting to Rs 30.59 lakh. The operation marks a critical enforcement of the Gaming Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

A case has been registered at Moinabad Police Station, with further investigations to follow as officials aim to dismantle the illegal gambling network.
