Israel is requesting to maintain its military presence in five posts located in southern Lebanon until February 28, as confirmed by a Lebanese official and an international diplomat.
According to the ceasefire deal formed in November, Israeli troops were initially supposed to withdraw by January 26. However, the agreement has already been modified to extend this withdrawal deadline to February 18.
New developments indicate that Israel is seeking yet another extension, attempting to negotiate through the committee responsible for overseeing the ceasefire agreement.
