Singh, who resigned but continues his duties until new arrangements are made, stated that illegal immigration threatens the social fabric of Manipur. The state's unguarded 398 km border with Myanmar and the Free Movement Regime (FMR) are factors altering its demographic balance, he noted on a social media platform.

Singh appealed to authorities to intensify their efforts in identifying and deporting illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, the central government plans to terminate the FMR, which allows unrestricted border crossing without a visa. Despite limited representation and resources, Singh remains committed to safeguarding Manipur's identity and populace.
