A parliamentary panel has called on the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to draft a report by February 17, addressing potential amendments to existing laws that could suppress controversial content, such as remarks by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. The issue has garnered cross-party concern.

During a meeting of the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, members from diverse political affiliations voiced their distress over Allahbadia's comments made in a YouTube program. They advocated for strict punitive measures to deter similar incidents in the future.

The committee, led by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, expressed its apprehensions to Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju. A communication was sent to Jaju, requesting a brief on law amendments concerning all media forms, emphasizing the necessity to adapt to new technological advancements and platforms to maintain regulatory efficacy.
