The European Parliament has taken a firm stance, urging the European Union to cease direct budgetary support for Rwanda. This call is linked to Rwanda's alleged ties with the Tutsi-led M23 rebels, who currently control significant regions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including Goma.

In a sweeping resolution passed by 443 votes in favor, the parliament condemned the occupation of eastern Congo territories. They demanded the suspension of a strategic mineral supply agreement with Rwanda until the African nation ceases its involvement in Congo's internal conflict.

The Rwandan government has yet to respond to these accusations, while the international community expresses concern over a possible escalation into a regional war. The region's mineral wealth remains at the heart of ongoing tensions, amidst high humanitarian demands in eastern Congo.
