The Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M) has strongly criticized the recent imposition of President's rule in Manipur, asserting it highlights the failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) governance coalition. The party's statement came after Chief Minister Biren Singh's resignation amid ongoing ethnic violence in the state.

Charging the ruling coalition with exploiting President's rule to buy time for internal political conflicts, the CPI(M) lambasted both state and central government for their alleged sectarian approach. The party accused the BJP leadership of failing to address the turmoil, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's refusal to visit the troubled state as a symbol of neglect.

With ethnic tensions persisting for nearly two years and causing 250 casualties, the CPI(M) called for immediate action to bridge the communal divide. It urged the central government to engage all political parties in meaningful negotiations to re-establish peace, harmony, and democratic rights, including resuming elections promptly.
