In a significant ruling, a Delhi court sentenced three men to life imprisonment for their roles in a 2015 murder case, highlighting its position against capital punishment in this instance.
Additional Sessions Judge Vikram delivered the sentence to Mohammed Adil Khan, Amit Kumar, and Shehzad, who were found guilty of murder, dacoity, and criminal intimidation charges. Despite the prosecution's push for the death penalty, the court maintained that the crime did not qualify as 'rarest of rare.'
The case involved a planned robbery resulting in a fatal shooting in Pitampura, leaving a young man dead and causing societal outrage. Two other accused remain at large and have been declared proclaimed offenders by the authorities.
