The Delhi High Court has extended interim bail for Jaideep Sengar, brother of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Sengar, until March 11. The court's decision was based on medical grounds, as Jaideep suffers from mouth cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. The extension was granted to allow time for further consideration of his case.
The interim bail, initially set to expire on February 18, was extended following a plea from Sengar's counsel, who requested a suspension of the 10-year jail term related to the high-profile case. The case involves the alleged murder of the Unnao rape survivor's father, who died in custody.
Kuldeep Sengar was convicted of raping the minor survivor in 2017 and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2019. The trial court also sentenced Jaideep Sengar to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in the father's death. Appeals against their sentences remain pending in the high court.
