Australian and Philippine authorities are intensifying efforts to combat online love scams, which they say exploit 'hearts and bank accounts' especially around Valentine’s Day. The Australian Federal Police, in collaboration with Filipino counterparts, have disclosed real-life dialogues used by a dismantled scam syndicate to raise public alertness.

A joint statement from the Australian police and the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission revealed that the syndicate targeted about 5,000 Australians, victimizing them with disguised romantic overtures and persuading them to sink money into fraudulent cryptocurrency investments.

Philippine law enforcement recently arrested over 250 suspected syndicate members and uncovered their financial tricks. Both nations' authorities are now encouraging vigilance and publicizing warning signs, while also broadening their fight against online fraud that has caused extensive financial losses.
