Thai authorities have announced plans to extradite 10 Chinese nationals involved in the abduction of actor Wang Xing back to China. This move comes amid intensified efforts to dismantle scam centres across Southeast Asia, triggered by Wang's January abduction.

Wang's disappearance garnered widespread attention in China due to a social media campaign led by his girlfriend. It has further fueled international initiatives against online scam operations that have exploited thousands and defrauded billions across the region, according to the United Nations.

Arrested while traveling to Cambodia, the suspects were part of a group operating in Myanmar's Myawaddy town, said Police General Thatchai Pitaneelaboot. In collaboration with the Karen National Army and other authorities, Thailand continues to address the scam centres' significant impact on its economy, especially the tourism sector.
