Clash Over Governance: West Bengal Assembly Budget Discussion

The West Bengal Assembly recently discussed the Governor's speech during the budget session, involving participation from both the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and opposition BJP MLAs. Tensions arose over claims of deteriorating law and order, with BJP citing hindrances in religious festivals, which TMC members firmly denied.

The West Bengal Assembly witnessed a heated discussion on Monday following Governor CV Ananda Bose’s speech at the budget session's outset. Legislators from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in a fervent debate, each pushing their viewpoints.

A total of 24 MLAs participated, including 9 from the BJP and 15 from the TMC. BJP members criticized the Governor's address, arguing that it failed to mention the worsening law and order situation in the state and accused the state government of censoring its contents.

Adding to the controversy, BJP MLAs like Chandana Barui and Dibakar Gharami claimed there were obstacles in holding significant religious festivities. In contrast, TMC representatives, including Mohammed Ali and Shyamal Mondal, dismissed these accusations, defending the state government’s efforts and highlighting their achievements in governance.
