Cocaine Seabed Stash Uncovered by Polish Authorities

In an operation focused on protecting critical infrastructure, Polish border guards discovered over 100 kilograms of cocaine on the floor of the Baltic Sea, according to an announcement made on Tuesday. The illicit cargo is estimated to hold a potential black market value of up to 60 million zlotys, approximately $15 million.

Amid growing concerns over the security of underwater critical infrastructure, NATO has committed to increasing its presence in the Baltic Sea. The discovery was made in the Gulf of Gdansk, where recent incidents have prompted high alert status among Baltic Sea nations due to suspicions of infrastructure damage.

The operation led to the arrest of seven suspects, who now face charges that could result in up to 20 years in prison if convicted. This development underscores the necessity for enhanced vigilance and international cooperation in securing crucial maritime facilities.
