In a significant diplomatic engagement, India and Pakistan conducted a flag meeting along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Friday. This meeting aimed to mitigate mounting tensions following cross-border firing incidents and an IED attack, according to official sources.
The brigade-commander level meeting took place at the Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing point, where representatives from both nations underscored the importance of maintaining peace along the contentious border. The 75-minute dialogue, beginning at 11 am, transpired in a conducive atmosphere.
The encounter was characterized by a mutual commitment to uphold the existing ceasefire agreement, pivotal since its renewal on February 25, 2021. Despite sporadic violations, the dialogue centered on sustaining peace along the LoC. Recent clashes resulted in casualties on both sides, including the tragic loss of two Indian Army personnel.
