Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana issued a stern warning on Friday, indicating that officers who fail to comply with instructions from the Chair could face charges of contempt of the House, subsequently leading to strict disciplinary actions.

The warning comes in the wake of a presentation by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna during the Zero Hour, where details were shared on actions taken regarding notices under Rule 301 and Rule 51. These rules pertain to matters not considered points of order and addressing urgent public issues.

Speaker Mahana pointed out delays in receiving required information, noting, 'The information came after a month. I had sent it back with objection, instructing that accountability be established for the delay.' He emphasized that non-compliance by any officer or department could prompt the Assembly to consider contempt charges, asserting that his instructions on this matter were final.
