Senior Citizen Swindled in Broad Daylight in Thane

A 75-year-old man in Maharashtra's Thane district was deceived by an unidentified individual who stole Rs 30,000 in broad daylight. The incident, which took place in Dombivili, involved the thief pretending to warn the victim about dirt on his shirt, before fleeing with his bag.

A 75-year-old man was conned out of Rs 30,000 by an unidentified individual in Thane district, Maharashtra, this week, according to police reports issued on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Dombivili on Thursday morning when the victim had just withdrawn money from a bank. As he was heading home, the alleged conman approached him, offering unsolicited advice about cleaning some dirt off his shirt.

Distracted, the elderly man removed his shirt and placed his bag aside. Seizing the moment, the suspect grabbed the bag and vanished with the cash. Police have lodged a complaint under section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the culprit.
