The People's Democratic Party (PDP) initiated a signature campaign on Saturday, advocating for a complete alcohol ban in Jammu and Kashmir. The campaign intends to gather public support for a bill proposed by PDP MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz.

Party leader Iltija Mufti launched the campaign at the party head office after police hindered their scheduled program at Sher-e-Kashmir Park. Mufti stressed the urgency of addressing the rampant spread of drugs and alcohol affecting societal values.

Mufti urged other political parties to back the initiative, emphasizing it as a social issue. She called upon the Union Territory and Central governments to make J-K an alcohol-free region, drawing parallels with Bihar, Gujarat, and Nagaland.
