India remains a cornerstone of United Nations peacekeeping efforts, with its women peacekeepers leading the charge in enhancing mission outcomes and fostering lasting peace, according to UN peacekeeping chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix. He spoke ahead of a conference in New Delhi focused on women's roles in peacekeeping.
During his visit, Lacroix will attend the 'Enhancing the Role of Women in Peacekeeping: A Global South Experience' conference. The event will bring together women officials from over 50 countries to address evolving peacekeeping challenges and the critical role women play in advancing peace and security. Lacroix highlighted India's pioneering role in gender parity and women's participation in missions.
Indian women have been instrumental in building trust with local communities in conflict zones, fostering communication and safety.
