The Madras High Court has mandated the Inspector of Police at the All Women Police Station, Ooty, to investigate claims of sexual assault against a class 9 student, allegedly perpetrated by her grandfather. The court has allowed a 12-week period for completing the probe and filing the final report.
Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan issued this directive while resolving a petition submitted by the victim's father. The petitioner reported the abuse allegedly occurred in Bengaluru, where the victim often spent winter vacations. The grandfather reportedly threatened the girl, hijacked her phone, and subjected her to physical and verbal abuse.
Additional allegations include mishandling by her aunt, and when the father attempted to collect his daughter, he faced resistance, necessitating police intervention. With reports of photo-morphing and unauthorized distribution of images, the Ooty police were eventually authorized by the court to proceed with the investigation.
