A 27-year-old man has been arrested for blackmailing individuals by posing as a YouTube employee and threatening to release their private videos, according to police reports. The suspect, Sahid from Rajasthan's Bharatpur, was apprehended in Yamunanagar, Haryana, on February 23.

The case first came to light on November 11, 2022, when a complainant reported being contacted by someone claiming to be YouTube's Rahul Sharma, demanding money to prevent the release of compromising videos. Authorities identified Sahid as part of a gang led by Sandeep Aggarwal, now in custody, involved in similar cyberblackmail schemes.

Sahid revealed during interrogation that financial struggles drove him to join the extortion racket. A farmer by trade, Sahid has studied only up to class 3 and encountered personal hardships, losing both parents young. His arrest exposes the tactics of cybercriminal networks exploiting social media vulnerabilities.
