Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against eight employees of the electricity department, including a Sub-Divisional Officer and a Junior Engineer, following allegations of illicit conduct.
Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Mangalik announced the charges, which include issuing an inflated electricity bill, molestation, and property vandalism. The incident originated from a petition submitted by Sajid Ali in court, leading to a judicial mandate to register the case against those accused.
The employees are accused of demanding Rs 7,500 for an electricity connection that was never provided, later charging Ali with electricity theft. This scandal raises questions about departmental accountability and integrity as investigations by law enforcement continue.
