The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an inquiry into a fraudulent recruitment operation, deceiving job seekers with the lure of employment at the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), officials disclosed on Tuesday.

The case has been filed against unidentified individuals alleged to have advertised positions such as Peon, Cleaner, Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in the DRDO. The fraudsters demanded between Rs 5-10 lakh from candidates in exchange for these bogus job promises, according to officials.

Further adding to the deceit, the scammers conducted sham medical examinations at a facility they falsely claimed was affiliated with the DRDO in New Delhi. They then provided fake appointment letters instructing candidates to undertake training in a counterfeit DRDO office in Jaipur. The CBI has initiated searches at two locations in Jaipur and one in New Delhi, as confirmed by a spokesperson.
