Euro zone government bond yields ticked higher on Wednesday, pushing up from their lowest levels in over a week. This rise is attributed to traders assessing possible increases in European defense expenditures and adjusting to a rebound in U.S. Treasury yields.

Germany's 10-year bond yield, a pivotal benchmark within the eurozone, climbed by one basis point (bp) to reach 2.463%. This slight increase came after the yield touched 2.446% the day before, its lowest point since February 17. Notably, the spread between 10-year U.S. Treasuries and German bunds widened by 1.8 bps to 185.6 bps, a change from the multi-month lows observed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Italy's 10-year bond yield saw an uptick of less than one bp, settling at 3.53%. The yield gap between Italian and German yields remained at a substantial 106 bps.
