Infant Sold for Financial Relief: Family and Businessman Booked

In a distressing incident, four individuals, including a financially burdened couple, were booked for allegedly selling their two-month-old child for Rs 1.6 lakh to a Lucknow businessman, police revealed on Sunday.

The unsettling transaction, brought to light Friday night, prompted swift police intervention, leading to the recovery of the infant from the businessman's residence on Saturday. The child is now safely in the care of the Child Welfare Committee, as affirmed by officials.

Authorities report that Mohammad Yasir, a scrap business owner, exploited the couple's vulnerable financial state, convincing them to relinquish their child in hopes of a better future. Both Yasir and the couple face legal action, while police investigate further connections in this grievous act.
