In a dramatic turn of events, Kannada actor Harshavardhini Ranya, also known as Ranya Rao, has become embroiled in a major controversy involving gold smuggling and industrial land allotment. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) confirmed land was allocated to Ranya's company for establishing a steel plant.
Ranya was arrested for attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs 12.56 crore from Dubai, with further investigations leading to the confiscation of additional assets. The controversy erupts amidst changing political landscapes, as the Congress recently took power from the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly.
The project, if continues, promises an investment of Rs 138 crore and aims to create 160 jobs. However, the unfolding drama and its potential political repercussions could impact this economic development significantly, casting a spotlight on broader issues of corruption and governance.
