In a twist of international intrigue, Belgian freelance photojournalist Simon Clement was apprehended in Mizoram's capital, Aizawl, after authorities allegedly found empty cartridges in his possession. The arrest took place following a routine check at Lengpui Airport.
Legal proceedings are underway as Clement, now on judicial remand, confronts charges under India's Arms Act. Furthermore, it emerges that Clement had previously breached visa regulations by crossing into Myanmar, bolstering the case against him.
The Mizoram Journalist Association (MJA), led by President C Lalrambuatsaiha, stands poised to meet with Clement, pledging solidarity and underscoring the broader concerns of journalistic freedom and international rights.
