Ukraine aims to significantly expand its drone arsenal, with plans to procure 4.5 million FPV drones by 2025. This initiative, announced by Kyiv's defense ministry, is a strategic move amid escalating high-tech warfare with Russia.
Hlib Kanevsky, director of the ministry's procurement policy, highlighted that the majority of last year's 1.5 million drones were sourced from Ukrainian manufacturers. With domestic capabilities expected to increase, Ukraine is set to invest over $2.6 billion into acquiring these advanced tools.
As the nation seeks to reduce reliance on Western allies, it is bolstering its own defense sector, focusing on long-range drones and unmanned vehicles. The effort aligns with Ukraine's pursuit of technological superiority in its armed conflict, as emphasized by top general Oleksandr Syrskyi.
