Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, reported in the Assembly that 118 Maoists have been neutralized by security forces over the past decade. This revelation underscores the state’s persistent battle against Left Wing Extremism.
Majhi highlighted the concerted efforts of local police and joint operations with Chhattisgarh’s forces, resulting in the apprehension of 315 Maoists and the surrender of 238. The state is preparing to further strengthen these efforts with advanced technology and additional forces, aiming to eradicate Maoist influence by 2026.
The government has also rolled out incentives through its ‘Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy’ and announced financial rewards to encourage Maoists to abandon violence. Newly proposed formations, like the Odisha Special Striking Force, aim to further fortify Odisha’s security apparatus in this ongoing struggle.
