The Haryana government retracted the Haryana Registration and Regulation of the Travel Agents Bill, 2024, in response to observations from the central government. The bill, initially passed by the Haryana Assembly, aimed to bring transparency and accountability to travel agent operations.
Aiming to address illegal activities conducted by travel agents, the bill was under consideration for approval from the President. However, recent legislative changes in criminal law prompted the need for revisions. The state intends to present a new bill incorporating these elements.
With previous instances of residents falling prey to fraudulent immigrant schemes, notably through illegal routes into the U.S., Haryana plans to revamp the bill to better safeguard its citizens and ensure compliance with new legal standards.
