Navigating Tensions: FAA Issues Flight Warnings Over Americas
The FAA has issued flight warnings over parts of Central and South America due to military activities and GPS interference. This move follows increased tensions and military operations involving the U.S. and regional countries. The warnings come amid threats of U.S. military actions against Mexico and drug cartels.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a set of new advisories for airlines, urging caution while operating flights over Central America, encompassing parts of South America, in light of potential military actions and GPS interference.
The alerts, applicable to Mexico, selected Central American regions, as well as Ecuador, Colombia, and sections of the eastern Pacific Ocean airspace, were initiated Friday and will span a duration of 60 days, the body confirmed. This development occurs amid rising tensions with Central and South American countries following military operations involving the Trump administration.
The fallout from these operations was highlighted post the attack on Venezuela, leading to a flight suspension in the Caribbean, impacting several major airline schedules. An incident was also reported where a JetBlue flight had to undertake evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision with a U.S. military aircraft, sparking further safety considerations.
