The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted multiple raids, including at the residence of Bhupesh Baghel, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, as part of a money laundering investigation linked to a liquor scam involving his son, Chaitanya Baghel.

During the search, which spanned eight hours, the ED seized approximately Rs 30 lakh in cash and various documents from 14 locations in Durg district. The raids have drawn accusations from Congress, labeling them as politically motivated actions coinciding with the parliament session.

Protests erupted outside Bhupesh Baghel's residence in Bhilai with Congress leaders denouncing the raids as a conspiracy by the central government to divert attention from pressing legislative issues. The ED claims the liquor scam has greatly impacted state revenue, involving proceeds exceeding Rs 2,100 crore.
