President Droupadi Murmu Addresses Central University of Punjab Convocation

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, graced the convocation ceremony of the Central University of Punjab in Bathinda today. Addressing the students, she emphasized that the convocation marks both the conclusion of one phase and the commencement of another in their lives. She expressed confidence that the graduates would contribute significantly to society, bringing glory to their university, families, and the nation.

She highlighted that curiosity fosters a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and that individuals should strive to introduce innovation in their fields. She emphasized that originality helps in building a unique identity, while morality forms the foundation of a meaningful and ethical life. She stressed that success should not come at the expense of integrity, urging students to be good individuals above all else.

Speaking on farsightedness, she advised students to make choices based on long-term benefits rather than short-term gains, ensuring that their skills and interests are utilized effectively. On spontaneity, she elaborated on its multiple dimensions, including authenticity, humility, consistency in thought and action, and staying connected to one's cultural roots.

The President expressed her appreciation for the university's diverse representation, noting that students from almost all states and union territories are enrolled. She also acknowledged the inclusivity within the teaching faculty, which mirrors the country's rich cultural diversity.
