The Arunachal Pradesh assembly has approved a progressive bill aimed at increasing transparency in the allocation of public welfare benefits through a family-oriented identification system.

Titled the Arunachal Pradesh Arun Parivar Authority Bill, the legislation was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and passed via a voice vote.

The APP ID will serve as a unique family identifier to streamline welfare benefit distribution and is accessible online or through Common Service Centres. Emphasizing data security, the bill includes encryption and penalties for data misuse. Also passed was an amendment to the state's GST Act of 2017.
