Police have initiated an investigation based on a complaint from US deportee Pankaj Rawat, a Haryana native, who alleges exploitation by travel agents. They extracted Rs 35 lakh from him under false promises of a safe passage to America, leading him through perilous territories over six months and 11 countries.
Rawat's formal complaint names Abdulla and Pradeep as the agents responsible for the human trafficking and fraud. According to his claims, these agents promised employment and accommodation in exchange for a hefty payment but instead led him on a hazardous 'Dunki' route, culminating in his deportation by US authorities.
As Rawat's ordeal through Guyana, Brazil, and nine other nations reveals, traffickers employ this illegal migration route to reach Western nations, often endangering lives. Police have embarked on a detailed investigation to uncover the full extent of this trafficking network.
