The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu attended a grand civic reception hosted in her honor by the Government of Punjab in Mohali today. The event celebrated Punjab’s rich heritage, its unparalleled contributions to India’s history, and the dedication of its people toward national progress.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu paid tribute to the spirit of Punjab, recalling its role as a land of great Gurus, martyrs, and revolutionaries. She emphasized that Punjab has been a cradle of India’s freedom movement, with its soil bearing witness to numerous sacrifices for the nation’s independence.
Highlighting Punjab’s unmatched tradition of selfless service, the President commended the unique institution of langar—community kitchens run in Gurdwaras worldwide. She acknowledged how Punjab’s people have taught the world the art of serving humanity beyond caste, creed, or religion, setting an inspiring example of inclusivity and generosity.

Expressing confidence in the state’s continued leadership in agriculture, she encouraged farmers and agricultural scientists to embrace sustainable and eco-friendly farming techniques for a prosperous future.
